  • Life...

    539 503 474 387 316 271 264 236 180 068 I always say I am going to do a better job at keeping up on here!  So I guess I will say it again...

Married life is wonderful!  I can't believe we have already been married about a month and a half!  It has been a crazy time - as has become the norm for my life - but I love it.  The new job is going great - and school starts tomorrow.  The summer went entirely too fast!

I am on my 5th week of orientation at Children's Mercy.  I LOVE my job - most of the time... of course the job certainly has it's very unglamorous times -  weighing and inspecting the contents of diapers, measuring urine output, cleaning toys and equipment and other yucky things you wouldn't think about anyone having to do.   But it has it's wonderful times of getting to sit and rock babies when their parents aren't there, bathing teeny tiny babies, playing with the kids, practicing my skills, and learning SO much!  I think I have learned more already then I learned in school in 6 months...  I try to ask as many questions as I can to my nurses without being annoying!   It has been a bit of a life change... I was very used to my 8 to 5 schedule - so getting used to getting up SUPER early and working 12 hours at a time has been a bit of an adjustment.  But - the great thing is that I have had days off during the week - never happend at the bank!  And I usually miss traffic - I am there before the early traffic and leave after the late traffic is already done!

School starts tomorrow... I somehow got a great schedule this semester - I have no classes earlier than 9:30!  Once again I get to miss traffic!  I realized the other night when I got off a little early and there was a Chiefs game how impatient I am when it comes to traffic!  I am SO not good at just sitting there...

Anyway - just wanted to catch up a little... Matt is great, he is just working alot.  He has never had to go away for work but had to a couple of weeks ago... He came home on a Monday night and told me he was leaving for Denver in the morning and would be home Friday... of course that was the week that I was off Tues, Wed, Thurs and had to work Fri, Sat, Sun.  I cried and cried... but I made it.  And his boss said it should never happen again... let's just hope he is right!  I don't like being without him...

Okay - enough update for now!   Hope everyone is doing well...

    Have a wonderful week!

  • God is SO Good! (And only 3 days left!:)

God has blessed me so much!  I cannot believe that another dream came true today ... I got a job at Children's Mercy Hospital!  I am SO excited.  I will be working as a nurse tech (basically a step above a CNA) at Children's Mercy South starting July 16th.  It is absolutely amazing how everything has worked out.  Makes me realize that I really do need to trust His timing...

I have applied at Children's Mercy many times and never ever heard anything back.  So -a couple of weeks ago, I got on the job postings like any other time and realized that they had nurse tech openings at South.  The requirements for a nurse tech are that you be enrolled in an RN program and that you have finished one semester, including clinical.   That is exactly where I am - so I applied.  Got a phone call - went in for the interview last week and was pretty sure I had the job - but they said they would let me know Monday so I could give my notice.  Well, Monday came and went and there was no call... I was pretty upset.  But then today they called and offered me the position!   So- I gave my notice - which made today my last day to work at the bank.  I gave almost two weeks notice, but I will be off for the wedding the rest of this week and on vacation next week.  I felt really bad for having to do it that way - but called HR and it is still considered 2 weeks notice... Children's Mercy absolutely has to have me on the 16th because they only do orientation once a month and I need to have about 4 weeks of full time to train before I go PRN during school.  Another reason I know this was God - I have known  for a while that the bank was not going to work for next semester, but didn't want to quit too soon and have to settle for part time when I could be working full time... Between my orientation and my training, that takes me full time right up to the time that school starts - and then I will be PRN - basically work as little or as much as I want.  I will get to put into practice things I have learned - and this guarantees me a job in the hospital when I graduate... they will just bump me up to a Graduate Nurse position and then when I pass my boards, they will bump me up to an RN.   So - now I have to go buy some fun scrubs!  What a change that will be wearing scubs and tennis shoes instead of dressing up everyday...

Only 3 more days till the wedding!  I cannot believe it!  And I am so ready for a break...  Just last minute things to finish up - got all of the music figured out tonight, working on programs tomorrow, and we will see what little things I have not thought of yet...

Okay - guess I should try to sleep now.  I was hoping writing would make me fall asleep faster... Somehow I think I have too much on my mind...

    Goodnight... and Happy 4th!

  • 17 DAYS!

I cannot believe it!  Everyone told me the time would fly... but I never knew how right they were!  I had my second dress fitting today... love trying on my dress!  And it has to be hemmed again because somehow it is still too long - so I get to go again next week!  Things are starting to come together - and I am trying not to stress about the things not done yet.  Although I don't know what I would have done without my mom's help!  She has been so great to get things done!  The bank has its big conversion/merger this week and mandatory overtime does not 90help my already too full schedule!  But, only two more weeks of work... that somehow makes it better...

Matt is getting used to his new job... and realizing salary has its good and its bad days!  He went to work at 8:00 last Wednesday morning and got off at 9:30 Thursday morning - then went home to sleep, got up to do his senior project presentation for Devry, and went back to work till 2 AM!  Home to sleep again and back at 7 AM till 5 that evening!  Needless to say he was not up to much last weekend - he was SO tired!  But he said that doesn't happen very often.  I really hope not!

We got our engagement pictures taken a couple of weekends ago and finally got them back yesterday!  They were a little late getting done - but I still am really excited with how they turned out!  I will see if I can remember how to post a few on here...

Alright - will try to post a few of the pictures!  Don't wan't to spoil the wedding by sharing all of them... :)   Everone have a great Wednesday!014 004036

  • 3 Day Weekend! :)

    Hello all...

Realizing how good God is, how He provides just what we need, and how much I have to be thankful for!

    1. SOOOO thankful for a three day weekend!  Since school started in January, I have worked every Saturday to get as many hours in as possible.  This weekend was my first Saturday off! And I get Monday too... It really couldn't get much better.  I was very in need of a break! Not that it is really much of one.  I guess this is the weekend to get all of the wedding stuff done!  Saturday I worked on decorations for the reception and I had a hair appointment and Kristy practiced on my hair for the wedding.  That was so fun!  I get more and more excited every day!  It seems so much more real now that I am actually getting to get stuff done.  Today we picked out tuxes and bought Matt's ring and have been working on invitations.  They absolutely have to be out by Tuesday!  So, looks like we will be working on them tomorrow too...

    2. Thankful for a new house!  I love it, will be so much happier when it is unpacked, but that will come in time.  It is so nice to knowing I will not have to move for at least a few years.. And in a little less than six weeks I will get to share the house with the most amazing man I have ever met...

    3. Speaking of that amazing man... Matt got a new job!  He will graduate from Devry the end of June and so he had kind of started to look.  He had a good job at the school district, but there was really no room for advancement - either in position or salary.  So- he applied for one job and went on an interview - and I guess they must have really liked him because they called him back - and offered him even more than he was asking for!  We had been really praying because with my school it is just too much to work full time - I think I cried every night for a lot of last semester because I was just SO overwhelmed.  So- we were praying that he would find something that would pay enough that I could only work part time.  And God answered even greater than we could have imagined.  He starts on Wednesday, and is SO excited!  He will be working for Pittney Bowes (they make the postage machines for businesses and do document imaging) as a Network Analyst.  AND - they have no problem with him taking off a week for the honeymoon and said he could even get paid for it.  GOD IS SO GOOD!

    4. School is out for the summer!  And I got A's on both of my finals!  Was a little worried about them because they were cumulative and we have a much tighter grading scale, the absolute lowest you can get on a final is a 75%.  Even if you had an A in the class, if you get less than a 75% on the final, you fail the class... Not that I ever get less than a 75... but it is just so much pressure...  I figure if I can make it through this semester, then I can handle anything!

    5. Thankful that my tailbone is finally feeling a little better!  (If you read Amanda's site I fell down the stairs a few weeks ago) I still have problems sitting down for long periods of time... but the pain is nowhere near where it was for those first couple of weeks...

Alright - enough writing for tonight!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

    Kylie
